Manchester Ship Canal Miscellany
25th January 2007

This collected depicts a lot of the ship canal's original character which includes infastructure, renovation, deriliction as well as anything else that is worthy of recording. Some of these shots could look a whole lot different in years to come as we go into the 'modern' peel holdings era of the canal.

 WD Severn (built 1974) having a spell dredging in the upper reaches of the canal, on this particular day between Mode Wheel & the millenium lift bridge at Salford quays. The new BBC media city can be seen taking shape behind which is located between the former No 9 dock & Mode wheel locks 06/11/08.

 MSC Buffalo tied up next to the bottom lock gates at Latchford which are currently out of action for maintenance. The gates in this picture are the old rarely used intermediate gates which have been prepared for use in the meantime 05/11/08

 Former Isle of Man steam dredger 'Mannin' in a sorry state sat on the bottom at Weston Point docks 21/03/08. She was built in 1936 and for a time was preserved at Ellesmere Port before being tranferred here where she sank in 2004. This is the bow section with the grab crane infront and what remains of the wheelhouse infront of the funnel.

 Runcorn Old Quay on 11/10/98. This was the base of the MSC maintenance fleet. MSC Buffalo & the 250 ton crane can be seen here amongst others. These vessels moved to Runcorn docks in 2004. New apartments started being built on this site in 2006
